Make it shine.

Copyediting

When I copyedit, I like to think of myself as a story detective. My first goal is to examine all the parts of your work and make sure they fit together. I look for content, flow, and continuity. If your character’s name changes for no discernable reason, or if there are continuity problems—the character who lives on a ranch is suddenly hanging out in Iceland and we don’t know how he got there—I’ll help find them.

Copyediting is particularly valuable after you’ve completed your manuscript and a round or two of revision, because at this stage you still have the chance to make major changes if needed. It’s also often the point when you need a fresh set of eyes on your work.
