FAQs
I’ve been told that I need an editor, but it’s too expensive! How much do you charge?
You might be surprised by how affordable it can be. Contact me for information about rates—there’s no commitment required, but knowledge, as they say, is power.
How long will it take to get your comments/edits/etc.?
It depends on the length and type of the manuscript. Developmental editing, dissertations, and technical editing take longer. If you have a deadline in mind, just let me know in your message.
What makes you better than Grammarly, AutoCrit, and other editing software?
Editing software is a great tool for writers, particularly during the earlier, self-editing phases of writing. And frankly, investing in them will most likely make later editing less expensive because a lot of the early work has already been done.
But, unlike editing software, I’m a human with hopes, dreams, goals, and plans, just like you. What this means for you is that I meet you, and your work, with plenty of empathy and a deep understanding of writers, the writing process, and what it takes to be a truly good writer.
Is there anything you won’t edit?
I don’t edit erotica or math textbooks.
Will you take work from just anybody?
In short, no. I’ll ask you to send your first three chapters (or your outline) before committing. We can also set up a quick consultation call. This gives us a chance to get to know each other a little and decide if we’re a good fit.
I have a great idea but no time to write it. Can you ghost write?
I can. I also know some really wonderful writers who’d love the opportunity to ghost write your manuscript. Reach out and we can talk about who would be a perfect match for your work.
Are you familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style?
Yes! I am fluent in Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), MLA, and APA.
Can you send me some references?
Of course!
Send me a message with information about your project and the kind of editing you’re considering. I usually reply within 24 hours.
